Super Football Kids – 3D Modelling with Blender

Wall West Studio

I have been using a new piece of software called Blender to create a 3D model of a football for my next game.

It’s taken a while to get it right! Although Super Football Kids will be a 2D game, having a 3D model football will mean that I will be able to have the ball spinning in 2D which should make it look more realistic. It will also mean a 3D cut scene is possible! Blender is a powerful bit of kit but it does take some time getting used to before you start to find your way around!

About Blender

Blender is a free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.

Check out Blender’s awesome demoreel below which uses the new Cycles render engine! I think I will be using this software quite a lot going forward…

New Game: Super Football Kids – Concept Art

Wall West Studio

Recently I completed my first ever game TrainRush! It’s available now, so check it out on App Store!

Catching the Gaming Bug

After releasing my first game, I have seriously caught the gaming bug! So I have now started working on my next game which will be a football based game for iOS. The concept is based a playground style football game that I used to play after school, more details on that to follow! The new game will be called:

Super Football Kids

Here is a sneak preview of some early concept art. The inspiration behind the game is based on a pencil sketch I drew when I was about 9 years old!

And of course the football pitch which is based on a 5-a-side layout.

This game will probably take a few months to finish due to the amount of coding/testing and art work required, so stay tuned.

Happy coding!
