It has been widely reported that Activision has agreed to buy King.com in a 5.9 billion dollar deal.
Further details beyond that are quite sketchy at this point, but this is a major acquisition in recent times in the gaming industry.
The Candy Crush series has been a huge money spinner for King for years now. This move signifies that Activision clearly wants in on the casual mobile gaming market which seems to be booming at the moment!
SoftBank was thinking way ahead back in 2013 with it’s acquisition of Supercell, the studio behind the hugely popular Clash of Clans game. That was a steal, in comparison, for a mere 1.5 billion dollars for a 51% controlling stake.
